Dr. Volker Boerschel is the Global Market Manager Functional at AkzoNobel. Dr. Boerschel has a PhD in Organic Chemistry (1985). In 1986, he joined Akzo Coatings Stuttgart, in the automotive laboratory and consequently was Lab Manager for solvent borne industrial coatings. In 1989, he undertook additional responsibility for the waterborne lab and the cataphoretic lab. In 1997, Dr. Volker proceeded to become the R&D Manager Functional Powder Coatings and in 2005, the Global Technical Manager / Coordinator in the newly created Sub-Business Unit Functional Coatings, before taking on his current role in 2010.

After 4 years of work as a free lance consultant for various industries, she specialized in surface preparation and surface treatments and technologies.
She is the co-founding partner of IBIX SRL in 2000 and of IBIX North America Surface Technologies, LLC in 2012. IBIX® specializes in the design, manufacturing and marketing of specialist thermoplastic coating application equipment including portable and automatic flame spray systems as well as eco-friendly portable surface cleaning and preparation systems.
Mrs. Susanna Giovannini has over 20 years of experience in product and process development, sales, technical business development for flame spray equipment, thermoplastic coating powders, surface preparation.
She has a number of patents and patent applications in surface treatment technologies and processes and various technical publications in trade journals.

A Chemical Engineering graduate from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1986, Chanchal worked for Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) in Technical service and application development of Polymer raw materials. He is presently working for Borouge India Pvt. Ltd. for past 19 years, initially for Flexible and rigid packaging and for past 12 years for Infrastructure applications – Pressure Pipe and steel pipe coating. He is an international expert on Steel Pipe Coating for cross country pipelines. He had a rich experience in polymer processing and have good knowledge of additive formulation for Polyolefins.
He also holds certification as Lead Accessor for Quality Management System from DNV, Singapore and DNV, Abu Dhabi. He was also trained in IMD, Switzerland in Innovation process.
He has been speaker in many international conferences in India, Europe and Middle East (AMI, IPCC, NACE, ASME and Plastics Pipe Conference to name a few) and contributed many papers in national and international journals. Chanchal has conducted many training programmes and workshops with leading pipe coating companies, End users and EPC contractors and has contributed in formulating national standards. He is Winner of many innovation awards and has 3 international patents.

Loai is the Business Development Manager of Functional Powder Coating in the Middle East region for Axalta Coating Systems (formerly DuPont Performance Coatings, DPC) based in Dubai. He brings over 10 years’ experience in industrial powder coatings.
Prior to joining Axalta Coating Systems in 2016, he held a variety of positions in Canada with Charter Coating Service as Business Development Manager & Inspection Director in 2014 and in the UAE with 3M Gulf as Senior Technical Service Engineer for Infrastructure Protection Division for MEA region since 2006.
He is NACE Coating Inspection Level III (Cert. No 41561) certified since 2012 as well as a SSPC member with vast experience in pipeline and tank coating inspection, specification writing and test protocol design.
He is a member of the Jordanian Chemical Society and Association of Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA) – Canada. He earned his Chemical Science degree from University of Damascus – Syria in 2000.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Tulsa, became a registered professional engineer in 2000 and holds two United States patents. Most recently, Bryan has championed new robotic technologies for internal field joint coating services and partnered with leading laser technology integrators to deliver enhanced coating services to the industry.

She is Chemical Engineer, Master in Marketing and Market Research and Executive MBA.
She has more than 17 years of experience in the automotive, industrial and protective coatings markets. After beginning her professional career as R&D Technician in AkzoNobel Industrial Paints, she held the position of R&D Manager in Weilburger Schramm Coatings to later become Technical Sales Delegate in Bayer Polymers. She was then recruited as Sales Engineer by Grace Davison and after this experience she enrolled the Spanish pigments producer Nubiola as Global Market Manager for Coatings and Product Manager for Anticorrosive Pigments and Oxides. Her career in Hempel started more than three years ago as Group Product Manger for Tank Linings to later become Subject Matter Expert for these range of products.

He is a PhD holder from University of Sheffield (UK) in the area of Computational Mechanics and a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Marine Engineering Science & Technology (IMarEST). He worked in KW Consultancy UK since its inception and he helped significantly in expanding the Company business and technical capabilities. His extensive experience in pipeline buckling design and analysis put him on the map as one of the leaders in this field. During his 20+ years career span, he managed and designed over 140 pipeline buckling consultancy projects for over 220 offshore rigid (single and PIP) and Flexible pipelines. Following Petrofac UK acquisition of KW Ltd, he continued working to Petrofac UK and then joined Dubai Xodus Group as the Chief Pipeline Engineer in 2014. In late 2016, he joined NPCC as PEM and pipeline team leader for the advanced engineering analysis.

Dr. Al-Borno received her doctorate degree in organic Chemistry from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. She is the owner, president and CEO of Charter Coating Service (2000) Ltd. in Calgary Alberta, Canada, a third party coating testing laboratory with Coating Inspection and Failure analysis. Dr. Al-Borno moved to Canada in 2000 as she had a vision for heading up Charter Coating and making it a world leader in the protective coatings business. As president and CEO of the company she has led the expansion of facilities, equipment and staff. With Dr. Al-Borno, Charter’s turnover has expanded 10-fold with clients from all over the world. She also led the company to completion of the stringent demands of laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025. Dr. Al-Borno is a member of several organization including National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), SSPC, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Chemical Society (ACS), and International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). She is heading several NACE committees and participating in conferences all over the world. She also has more than 40 publications and one patent. In 2014, Dr. Al-Borno was honored with “Berger -Best Paint Consultant” award by SSPC-India for dedicated contribution to provide best consultation advice, specification, testing and Certification of coating.
